This is taken from the Wikipedia article linked below:
The initial development of C occurred at AT%26amp;T Bell Labs between 1969 and 1973; according to Ritchie, the most creative period occurred in 1972. It was named "C" because many of its features were derived from an earlier language called "B," which according to Ken Thompson was a stripped down version of the BCPL programming language.
So it seems like it was derived from 'B', and I suppose nobody ever thought to name a new language 'D'. I hope that answers your question. All the best!
Why c language called c not d or e?
C was the next logical name for a computer language, the previous having been named B.
Computer scientists being the logical people they are, could not break the pattern and skip letters to call it D or E.
